 VESTRY LIAISONS AND MEMBER REPORTS

 Worship and Music

Next month we will have the customary Thanksgiving Eve service and start the Advent services.

 Spiritual Growth and Education

Sigrid reported that Sunday school is available any Sunday that children come. The lessons are based on the Gospel of the day so that everyone can feel comfortable even though they have been absent.

 Parish Life

Karen reported that Burnt Offerings went well. She said that she does send cards to parishioners who do not attend because they have moved or are physically unable for special anniversaries or other special occasions. Should you know of someone in this situation, let Karen know. She said that Helen Jacupke had agreed to go through the membership list and contact those who have not come to Church. Marge Sneller has agreed to help.

Evangelism

Did not meet.

Building and Grounds

Rod reported that the contracts with the cable company, phone company, and the utilities had been signed and sent with the required monetary amount. Tuck pointing is under way! The sprinkler system has been shut down and drained. A pipe broke early today in the custodian’s closet on first floor and spread water down stairs in the elevator shaft, some in the youth room and in the entry to the undercroft. The leak was discovered, repaired by the plumber and the water taken up by Service Master.

 Stewardship

Greg reminded us that Sunday, November 1, is Consecration Sunday. Mailings have been sent to parishioners. The Women of Saint Mark’s will cater the lunch. Dr. Halsted has agreed to make the dessert. Parishioners should have their reservation card in by Sunday, Oct 25 and they should get their pledge cards in on Sunday, Nov 1. Greg also pointed out that we need everyone to list their email address so that we can begin to assemble our electronic data base.

Outreach

Katharina reminded us that we were collecting cards, stamps, stationary and pens for Meals on Wheels trays. These will be collected on Nov 8. The outreach project for Dec will be a gift tree for kids at the Bridge and backpacks for Hastings College project “Food4Thought”

 OLD BUSINESS

Property improvements

We have no idea when Werner's are coming, but since the contracts have been sent to the utilities, phone company and cable company, Werner's should know. Rod will talk to John Nelson.

Cowton-Marsh Trust; Mary Helen proposed a procedure for dealing with the money from this trust (see attached). Rod moved that we follow Mary Helen’s proposal, LeeAnne seconded. After some discussion the motion was accepted.

Sexton The Dean says that we will advertise the position.

Bart’s Window: Jerry Daniels said that the frame for Bart’s window had been received by Howard’s Glass and they are going to put Plexiglas on the outside and then they would install it in Saint Mark’s, when the window arrives.

NEW BUSINESS

Tuck pointing was started Monday, Oct 19.

130th Anniversary Celebration – We need to start thinking about how we will celebrate since April 25, 2010 is Saint Mark’s Day and it falls on a Sunday.

 ADDITIONS

Budget Committee, Bruce, Rod and the Dean will meet.

Concern expressed over the choir directors compensation.

 ADJOURNMENT

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned with a motion by Bruce, second by Karen. Approved. The meeting was closed with prayer by Dean Neske
